| The Burning Mountain Lodge is located in the town of Wingen, a small town 20km north of Scone in the Upper Hunter Valley. Approximately 3.5 hours drive from Sydney. Entry to the lodge itself is via a gate on the Southside of the Burning Mountain rest area on the New England Highway.
Wingen is an Aboriginal word meaning “FIRE”. The Burning Mountain is one of the main tourist attractions of the Upper Hunter Valley, the 14-hectare Burning Mountain Reserve conserves active smoking vents from a coal seam burning underground and it is believed that the fire has been burning for more than 5000 years and is the only one in Australia.
